Truck Driver Dies In One Truck Crash
The main east-west highway through the Chicagoland area was closed this week when a westbound semi-truck crossed over all lanes of eastbound traffic, rolled and dumped tons of cooking oil it carried. The accident occurred about 10 miles west of Joliet, Illinois.
The driver had to be extricated from his mangled truck after the crash. A helicopter airlifted him from the scene to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Illinois. He later died of his injuries.
Traffic on Interstate 80 was closed for hours in all directions. Police re-routed cars onto local streets while the crash was investigated and scene was cleaned. What caused the driver to lose control of the truck is still under investigation.
