Mold Leads to Sippy Cup Recall
The company that owns Tommee Tippee children’s spill-proof cups has issued a voluntary recall of more than 3 million cups due to mold, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Five types of 7- and 10-ounce versions of the cups are affected. They include: First Sips Transition cups; Trainer Sippee cups; Sippee cups; Sportee bottles; and Insulated Swiggle/Sippee tumblers. All of these cups have a white one-piece removable valve. Mold can develop on this white valve inside the cup when it remains wet/moist and is infrequently cleaned. If mold develops, it can put users at risk of gastrointestinal symptoms and infections.
