Helping Those In Need Around the World
Dixon Law Office founder, G. Grant Dixon III, recently traveled to Ecuador to help install a clean water well in the northwest rain forest of the country. “It was a humbling experience to see people living in such tough conditions without even the most basic necessities like water,” he said. “Clean water is vital to virtually everything we do; or health, economic and social well-being are all tied to water,” Grant noted. The project was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Western Springs. Grant is the past-President. “I felt very strongly that during my term as President we needed to get out and help people in a tangible way. This project was able to do that.”
In June 2013, Grant traveled to Quito, Ecuador with two high school students. There, the group met about 25 locals to help dig a fresh water well and 500 foot trench that supplied the water to a storage tank. “The people were absolutely wonderful. They were so welcoming to us and very appreciative of what little we did. It was just amazing,” he said. The village of more than 100 families will now have access to clean drinking water. “This project changed the lives of these families for the better almost overnight.” Grant said, “we left Ecuador with a new-found appreciation for how blessed we really are and the satisfaction of knowing we helped someone else.”
