The Right Hook

Bicyclists are required to ride on the right side of the road unless safety conditions require them to ride elsewhere.  This rule, known as ride right, puts cyclists in a difficult position when riding in traffic at intersections.  When the motorist makes a right turn and fails to see the cyclist, it hits the cyclists with what is commonly referred to as “the right hook.”  “A right hook is dangerous for a cyclist because they are left with nowhere to go,” noted G.
